PHILANTHROPHY
The Segerstrom family, with Henry T. Segerstrom at the helm, has given much back to their community in the form of land, money, art, and infrastructure support.
Henry T. Segerstrom was a generous and caring civic leader with urban-planning skills and also the driving force in the cultural expansion for Orange County. He understood how people live, from farms to urban centers, how they work, play, and relate to their environment. Segerstrom acquired this empathetic knowledge firsthand, from his immigrant farming family’s love of the land to his discerning business acumen. His initiatives
associated with cultural planning have created cultural precincts, such as Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the identification of local distinctiveness, and the nurturing, through creative practice, of a positive sense of place and belonging while enhancing what it means to be human and part of a community. Henry’s philanthropic legacy continues through the Henry T. and Elizabeth Segerstrom Legacy Foundation.
