Pioneers of Enterprise Honored, Chapman College

The Segerstrom Family was honored in 1981 by Orange County’s Chapman College who marked their anniversary by hosting an event entitled “American Celebration.” The event honored four families and individuals who were pioneers of enterprise in their field, beginning their journeys in Orange County. The four families and individuals were the Segerstrom family, the Knott family, Carl Karcher and Dr. Arnold O. Beckman. The honorees shared similar traits: they acted on principles of initiative, individual responsibility and hard work to build companies and businesses whose grassroots lay in Orange County. Awardees were also noted for their work enriching their communities with tireless support of arts and education.
