Environmental Building Award, American Institute of Architects

Announcement Date: March 19, 1994

As a land developer, Henry demonstrated the same foresight and progressive approach to building as was evident in his business and philanthropic endeavors. Henry was a pioneer of green technology and sustainable building practices in his community; and in 1994, the American Institute of Architects’ Committee on the Environment granted Henry their prestigious Environmental Building Award. At the time, the award was in its infancy and Henry’s was one of the first awards their organization granted. The honor recognized Henry as a trailblazer in the realm of sustainable design and architecture and to this day, this particular award still is considered the industry’s most prestigious for sustainable design excellence.
