COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA – March 18th, 2019 – Elizabeth Segerstrom attended the 90th birthday celebration of longtime friend and creative partner, Frank Gehry, at the Getty Center. Both sharing a passion for the arts, the two developed a friendship through Gehry’s charity, Turnaround Arts, which aims to bring art education to underprivileged children at low performing schools. Elizabeth helped establish the program in Orange County by bringing groups of children from the Willard School and Sierra Preparatory Academy to performances at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

The evening at the Getty Museum was a tribute to not only Gehry’s humanitarian endeavors but also to his world-renowned architectural and design legacy. Gehry’s iconic buildings continue to break the mold and stretch the boundaries of conventional architecture.

Her philanthropic leadership has made an enormous impact on the cultural climate of Southern California. Elizabeth shared her passion for the arts with her late husband, Henry T. Segerstrom, and continues to uphold his profound legacy in the arts institutions in which he was involved, including Segerstrom Center for the Arts, where she sits on the board of directors.
