Elizabeth Segerstrom Attends Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ 45th Annual Candlelight Concert 2018

COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA – December 11, 2018 – On November 30th, 2018, Segerstrom Center for the Arts hosted their 45th Anniversary Candlelight Dinner and Concert. This treasured event, chaired by Sandy Segerstrom Daniels and Jane Fujishige Yada, brings Orange County friends and family together to mark the official kick-off of the performing arts center’s holiday season. More than 450 people attended this year’s annual event, raising $2.84 million to support Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ artistic and educational activities and programs.

The theme for this year’s milestone anniversary was “Enchanted Evening”. Guests, including Elizabeth Segerstrom, arrived to an emerald-colored carpet, where they were welcomed by carols sung by the Plaza Vista Middle School Choir.

The event paid tribute to classic Broadway and film tunes with performances by Tony Award winners Susan Egan and John Lloyd Young; Broadway stars Tony Yazbeck and Michel Bell; and the Cal State University Fullerton Singers.

After dinner, guests danced to tunes by one of the most successful American bands of all time, Earth Wind and Fire.

As guests left Segerstrom Hall, they waited for their cars at a late evening reception at the Valet Lounge on the Plaza, where hot beverages and fancy donuts were served as “snow” fell from above.

Proceeds from Candlelight provide support for the Center’s education and community engagement programs including:

  • 300 days of educational programming
  • 4,800 events, performances, and workshops
  • Performing arts integration in Orange County schools
  • Teacher professional development
  • Training the next generation of artists
  • Free events and performances at the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza
  • Free classes at the American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School and School of Dance and Music for Children with Disabilities
